I bought myself a pelicase 1080cc.. unfortunately the case it is a little to big for housing the macbook pro.

I made myself from Armaflex Sheet insulation this housing. Hope you like it.

Some pictures from the process:

Not bad. Could have saved yourself the trouble and just got the 1085 instead though (without the "cc" at the end,) as that one comes with the foam inserts. 13" MBP fits perfectly inside that one with the foam.

Don't forget to put a strap of Velcro around the case. That's the biggest gripe from people about the Pelican cases (or most briefcase style cases, for that matter.) The latches can come open relatively easy ... Or easier than one might expect. Using some Velcro will prevent the thing from accidentally popping open and spilling your laptop onto the floor.

Also, FWIW, I'd be all over a Pelican case, if only the one I would need had an actual handle. That's my main pet peeve about their cases. Shoulder straps only. Bah!

Looks good! What does it look like closed/the lid?

Correction: my fault, it is a Peli 1085CC

Thanks for your advice. Strange thing was, the guy from the pelican dealer said that the foam version without the cc indeed comes with foam and you need to take it out yourself. Cause of that reason you never get it really smooth looking.

If you ask me the information about these cases is not really clear. They should make a 13" version instead of 14".

Yeah, they could have done a way better job at describing their products, that's for sure. The important bits and pieces that I've managed to glean over time have come mostly from Amazon reviews, and not from Pelican. Definitely a deficiency there with Pelican.
