eMac - Bad ethernet port?

My parents have gone through three Qwest DSL modems with their 1.25Ghz eMac and just lost another one last night. The guy at Qwest said it's probably a bad ethernet port on the eMac and to get it checked out.

Anyone else know of this problem?

My wife's eMac has a problem where if it's on the wired network it puts out tons of noise on the lines which disconnects all the other comptuers in my house. Putting in an Airport Extreme card and connecting wirelessly made that issue go away. Not sure what you could possibly be frying wth an eMac ethernet port, though. :confused:
