*Disclaimer Before you read... This is a poll to get both a generalized view and an in depth view as to the life of an Watch battery and the user. It's to compare with others on how they use their watches, and what they do with them. In no way this threads post and results mean that your watch will have the same outcome.

Macrumors Forums Members, does Apple live up to it's word? Its been a couple of days now for those of you that are lucky enough to have one sitting on your wrist.

Apple Website said:
Charge it overnight.
Wear it all day.

Apple also claims to have a battery that lasts up to 18 hours (Testing the 38mm).

Sound off here!
What time do you take it off from charging?
What percentage is it when you put it back on at night?
Also how many hours do you have it off of charging?
What level of interaction do you use your  Watch at?
Scale of 1(only look at it for time and notifications) to 10 (Reply to messages, notification up the wazoo, display on for more than 5mins at times.)
And finally what size do you have? 38mm or the 42mm?

Totally. Took it off the charger around 8:30 am. Just put it back on the charger at 2 am. Still had over 20% battery left.

Took mine off charger at 8:30 at 1am I had 40 % left and used it heavily during the day - played volleyball for 3 hours, texted quite a bit, dictated a few messages, shazamed a few songs and showed everyone I know how it works. Add to this the battery isn't broken in yet. Needless to say I'm impressed!!!!

I have the 42mm model and yesterday I took it off the charger at 7, I took it off and went to bed around 1 and still had 30% left. I'm pleasantly surprised at the battery life.

Mine seemed to go faster for the first half than the second.

Yesterday stats:

15 hours 45 minutes of standby
4 hours 56 minutes of usage
Battery remaining: 18%

I feel like thats fairly heavy usage and will drop with time. The more I use the apple watch the more as I see it as a sort of gatekeeper / manager for the information flow from my phone. I really do check my phone less and once the novelty of the watch wears off I expect I will use both less than I used just the iPhone prior to having the watch.

Where do you find the usage stats? I can't find it on my AW settings or app. Would like to check and compare. Thanks! From my estimates, though, I am surprised at the battery as well. So far at least.

I haven't had any problem with battery so far. I worked 12hrs last night and played slots, yatzee, and a couple of other games as well as other things and at the end of the night I still had 60% :D

Apple watch app/general/usage

Thanks, wow, blonde moment...I looked there initially but needed to scroll down a bit more. Guess the coffee hasn't kicked in.

Usage: 3h 37m
Standby: 19h 38m
Battery left: 22%

I have the 38mm SS and I have the display brightness on low as well.

That's quite impressive!

I think my battery might be faulty - or maybe not properly calibrated.
It's almost dead right now, after 11 hours of standby/4 hours of usage.

For the record, mine is the 38mm. Could you also provide your watch size, since this might have a bearing on battery life?

I got it at 80% on Friday, played with it and was setting things up for about 2 hours, and ended the day (5 hours using it: 8 PM - 2 AM) and had ~60% left. I'd say I can get well over 18 hours. My full day test will be on Monday, so I'll vote tomorrow when I have a chance to push it.

So far the watch has lasted all day and appears to today as well. I don't even check the battery life and don't want to have to. Charging it at night is no problem for me, so long as it always lasts the day.

I've been using mine since 6am and it's now almost 1pm. I'm at 85% battery remaining. 42mm SG Sport.

Mine was at 19% last night at midnight after wearing it since 7:30 that morning, so it seems that 18 hours will be easily achieved as I'm sure I'm tinkering with it more now because it's new.

Right now, I'm at 89% after about 4.5 hours wearing it. Almost an hour is usage. The rest is standby.

Started at 6AM - By 11PM it was at 26%.
Turn off the fitness monitor and activity tracking, and power saving under the heart rate, and you'll get a lot better battery.

After a complete drain from 100%-0% (it went from 2% to dead)

38mm SS
4h 30m Usage
23h 38m Standby

Only setting adjustment was that I have the display brightness on low. All else is set to default.

Really wanted to get it to a full 24h standby, but I'm still pleased with the battery overall.

I'm on day 2 of monitoring battery.

Sat I was still looking around a bit, used Siri a fair amount, took a phone call on watch of 15 min. Seemed to use 15% of battery just for the call, so today I have used activity tracker, utility face, time, not much else, but probably what I will use it for during workday since am at work PC and phone most of time. Anyway so far here is usage data, battery % remaining:

38mm SS at medium brightness
Started:

6:15 am 100%

7:15 pm 58%
Usage: 1 hr 26 min
Standby: 12 hrs 58min

I've been carefully monitoring my battery performance since 10am Friday. I'm not even considering making a claim about battery life for a week or more.

Why?

Simple, until I establish a consistent daily use pattern, I'm taxing the battery far more than whatever "normal" use will be.

Plus if honest, most owners that are happy with their Apple watch are too inclined to brag, to be overly optimistic about the battery life.

Forgot to charge it the first two nights. Both times woke up with battery to spare (10% first night, 30% second). Takes less than two hours to fully charge. I wouldn’t worry about battery life at all.

So far 12 hours of standby. 3.5 hours of usage. 43% battery life left! I didn't think the battery would be this good
