Problem copying from SDHC card to iPhoto

Im struggling to copy photos from my SDHC card to iPhoto. It has been working fine until today, but now the 'loading' screen just hangs there.

The SDHC card appears on my desktop and I can view the images, but I can't get them to load into iPhoto. Its the same SDHC card I've always used, and after taking photos on it today I just can't get them to copy.

Something to try (no promises)

Try copying the images from the SDHC card to a folder on the Mac (it could be a temporary folder you create right on the desktop).

Will the files copy?
Can you open them with Preview?

If so, try copying them from the desktop into iPhoto...

Thanks, I've managed to open the memory card and copy the pictures I need to iPhoto. I shall try creating a folder as suggested and see if that works for bulk copying. Frustrating how they won't load directly.
