Hey all,
I am looking to purchase an older machine to use as a dedicated MP3 box for my room. I was wondering what you all thought would make a good, cheap machine. So far, I am looking at an 8600 or an 8500, both with the AV card. However, if you have any other ideas, plase let me know. I am, however, nbot looking to spend too much, and want a tower. Plus, I want a beige machine, because I don't want to call much attention to it.

P.S. - All my MP3's are legit. (For those who care)

What will you be doing with this “box”?
Will it be for downloading or just to play music?

Just to play, I have CD's to rip. Those PMs are a tad slow for what I'm looking to do, sorry Aztec. However, if I'm looking for an old hobby machine, I'll give you a "call" first.

Well...

What about a PowerTools PowerTower Pro? It has a 300Mhz 604e Processor, a 6GB, tons of expansion...but i dunno

Why not just rip ‘em to your current Mac???
I would also be cheaper and better to get an iPod!!! 😉 😉 😀

If your just looking for a place to store your MP3's, I'd suggest just getting an additional hard drive. Dedicate that just to MP3's.
