I've got an iPhone 5 and the battery life isn't great. Took it to a genius and they said that there is a load of old firmware crashing in the background. Just wondered if anyone had experienced this before? I've not set my phone up as new in 5 years, but the genius suggested I do this. But why wouldn't an iOS upgrade fix this type of issue? Thanks.

Because of bugs passed down from older backups and old ios versions.
You should restore and setup as new.
Or stick with a buggy iphone.
Your choice...
