I just got the notification in my email that it shipped! Checked my credit card and lo-and-behold the behemoth was listed as a pending charge.

Can't wait for this thing to get delivered!

Anyone else get shipping notifications on their 18K Edition watches?

Good to see you can basically pick your delivery time and also video chat for set up. Hell, for $18k they should send a specialist to your house.

Thread Starter, can I ask, do you own any other Luxury Watches or will this be your first?

Just wondering OP - since you have a join date of May 2015, looking at your post history, you also ordered a 42mm Milanese it seems, so why did you also place an order for an Edition as well?

Apple Watch IS NOT A LUXURY WATCH! That is the first item that you need to understand. The price is astronomical, the quality and workmanship is not. Again, Apple Watch IS NOT A LUXURY WATCH!

It most certainly is a luxury. It may not be luxurious, but it's most definitely a luxury.

Video setup is offered on all watches, so that's not special for the edition. After you receive your watch, Apple sends an email offering you options to schedule video setup appointments if you want one.

The tracking I have is for UPS shipping out of Tennessee.

I hope none of the UPS thieves figure out how much an Edition package weighs. ;)

Seriously, I know that the majority of UPS employees are decent, law-abiding types, but I know too many people who have had Apple goods stolen from UPS for me to think they screen well enough.

Which version of the Edition did you order?

I found myself oddly partial to the yellow gold/red Modern Buckle version, which is weird because I don't like yellow gold at all. My 2nd favorite was the rose gold with white sport band. I wasn't a fan of the rose gold/rose gray Modern Buckle one. The band was kind of dull-looking in person. I wished it looked more like the renders online. :)

Congrats.

I look forward to hearing what you think about it when you receive it and how the specialized Edition setup service goes.

As NinjaDom said I'd like to know if you have any traditional high end watches as well and how you think the Watch Edition compares. I'm a watch collector and will be wearing my Watch (non-Edition) alongside my traditional mechanical automatic watches.

Regarding bunnicula's comment, I've had two Swiss automatic watches stolen by the sorters/handlers at my local UPS hub. With one, the package was torn open, the watch was taken from inside the display box, and the package was retaped with clear packing tape. It was pretty clear that it had been tampered with because the sender used paper tamper indicator tape that had been ripped open and the package was very light when the driver handed it to me. I declined the delivery and the driver opened it while standing in front of me and confirmed that the watch was stolen. The other was stolen outright with the tracking updates ending as soon as it hit the local hub. Both times I was reimbursed by the sellers and they filed claims with UPS to get their money back by way of insurance.

So before you accept the package be sure to inspect for any signs of tampering and be sure that the weight seems appropriate for a solid gold watch. I'm assuming that Apple will be sending it as "signature required".

Congrats again!

I'm not too surprised about UPS. My local drivers seem decent, but when they delivered my Watch, they knew exactly what it was. According to the guy, when Apple dos a big release, UPS preps their staff in advance so they know the packaging/box sizes. You'll get a few folk with an iffy moral compass, so its not surprising if a few packages go missing from time-to-time.
