Latest MBPr before this weeks updated model. Has 16 Gig of Ram. I am not sure, but I assume he has Windows 8--if not 7.

But he claims Windows runs much faster on Windows PCs. He compared the performance to a Dell XPS 15 inch (2014--still latest model).

I always thought Windows runs just as fast on Macs under Boot Camp. True or no?

In theory the Mac should run Windows just as fast. Apple doesn't prioritize optimizing its Boot Camp drivers, so potentially in practice things such as graphics might be a little slower but I doubt it would be noticeable. Actually, some people testing Windows 8.1 and 10 have found that it is actually a little faster at some graphics tests than OS X on the new MacBook.

Okay thanks. That's what I tried to tell him, but he's too stubborn. Maybe he didn't install Windows correctly in Boot Camp is what I am thinking.

I run Win7 Pro via BootCamp on my maxed out MBAir 13 and it is as fast as I have ever seen. No complaints running AutoCad or Photoshop and large files. Tell you friend he is wrong!

Windows will still be subject to all of the performance issues if not properly set up. Question him on what feels slower whether it is overall performance, graphic performance, etc.? Also verify that he has allocated enough space to Boot Camp as starving an OS of disk space is never a good thing regardless of OS.

I'm afraid I'm having the same problems as your friend. Brand new mbp 13" retina (2015) fresh install of El Capitan. Fresh install of Windows 10.

Running Chrome Octane tests gives me 27k in OSX but only 4-6k in Windows!

Chrome is not all that great in Windows 10 IME, people here say it's bad in OSX too FWIW. I run Chrome in Linux and like the heck out of it.
