Just got a new 2015 MBA. Want to swap its 128GB HD with my early-2014 MBA's 512.
Was told could do it:

And it makes sense that you could, even in Appleverse.
Just tried. When the 2014 HD is installed in the 2015 MBA, a flashing white folder icon comes up on black screen after startup.
With the 2014 MBA I only get a white circle with a diagonal line thru it on the black screen after installing the 2015 drive.
Swapped them back again and no problem.
How can I make the swap happen?
I can backup the old one and reformat both if that's what it takes, though if that's the solution and there are instructions online, please post a link.
