A new section has been created on MacRumors, simply called "Page 2".

Page 2 will contain links/commentary about news and rumors of lesser importance or unknown reliability. These are items that are not felt to be important enough to be posted off the main page.

This distinction is arbitrary and at the discretion of the MacRumors editor(s). It should simply be seen as a guideline, and not as a hard-and-fast rule as some unreliable rumors will likely make their way to the main site and some true rumors will make their way to Page 2. Page 2 will also contain links to news items and reliable rumors of lesser interest. Examples of this presently include screenshots of hardware, and rumors of minor software updates.

Story submissions for the MacRumors site as well as Page 2 are all handled through the same submission form.

Seems like a good idea.

This can basically mean there is no more 'scattered rumors' post anymoree I suppose all will be filed under page 2.

Good idea Arn, now you can get the credit for saying you posted it. (Just not on the main page) 😀

just a cheap way to keep your credibility good and your track record high. i'd rather have everything on the first page no matter how "reliable".😡

I tend to agree. I doubt I'll visit the 2nd page very much, even though I want to hear everything. If it all were on one page, no matter how reliable, it'd be much easier.

That actually wasn't the intent.

Many of these rumors would have never made it to the front page... and some rumors just shouldn't get the attention that posting them on the front page would get them.

As a 'for instance'... there was a rumor that Apple had a simple software upgrade to allow current Airport Cards to run at Airport Extreme speeds... no hardware upgrade required.

It's an unbelievble rumor, and most people know that... but if I post it on the main page, you can bet there will be tons of people spreading this as truth. MacRumors gets a fair amount of traffic, and I think there is some responsibility associated with that.

Besides, I don't expect to get credit for 3rd party rumors...

Want to hear something crazy Arn? When AirPort Extreme was announced, my partner rang the UK Apple Store (that's where we live) and that's exactly what the person on the other end of the line said. according to him, there will be a software patch to upgrade the original cards.

Now I too think this is ridiculous - but isn't that hearing it from the horse's mouth?

Only time will tell I guess....

heh... well, I guess all rumors have a sliver of hope in them... so that's why they get posted at all (on page 2)

For me it just adds ANOTHER place to look (which I may or may not even bother). It's not like there's 30 posts per day on the main page that need sorted out or anything. If you think a rumor is of medium to low quality just say so in the post as you've done many times before.

I like the one page includes all postings scenario.

These posts would have never made it to the front page before. So, you're not missing anything if you never visit Page 2.

I just looked at the rumors that are listed on page 2 and I agree that they should be on a separate page. It's good to see the links and the commentary, but they are obviously not the same quality as the rumors that make the front page.

Hey arn, is there an RSS feed for this page too?

At first I was like.. against this.

But now that you explain it, its good.

I recommend not calling it Page 2, but rather something else, like Odds and Ends, or something, to clear up confusion.

Don't listen to them Arn, it's a great idea. some people are just so cynical 🙄... it'll take some time to get used to checking there occasionally, but it's kind of like the Times having an Enquirer section, just for entertainment 🙂

and software airport extreme? not on your life. Apple stands to make money through AE, why mess with that? AE isn't in high demand yet, and won't be for quite some time, so there's no reason to bother...

It seems "Page 2" might confuse some people into thinking it's just older news...

If anyone has any suggestions, send 'em to me (private message)... I'll reconsider the name.

I don't have a good alternative name. In general, it's still part of MacRumors, not a new site on it's own so the name should reflect that.

For people who don't want to bother checking that page... there is a "Page 2 News" block in the recent comments section on the right of the main page. New stories will also show up there.
