Writing this post on behalf of a friend:
He has a 6GB iPod Mini. He dropped it last night on a tiled floor, since then the screen is only showing a Folder with an exclamation icon.
Just want to make sure that if I reset the iPod, and restore the software, it SHOULD clear the corruption on the HDD, hopefully bringing it back to life?
If not, and the Updater doesn't recognise it, I boot into Disk Mode and force a restore?
