Anyone got these working with one of their Macs using digital audio? What kind of cable did you have to get? Also does quicktime and dvd player make full use of all 5 channels?

Cheers

I have them and, but I dont go through digital out. I go from the headphone jack, to the stereo left/right adapter to the supplied (with seakers) analog right/left>orange,green,black speaker cables. It makes anything playing through my powerbook go to all 5 speakers.

I have the z-5500 connected to my powermac g5 via an optical cable. The DVD Player supports all 5 channels with the optical cable. Overall it works great.

What optical cable did you use? The socket on my iMac and on the Powermac looks more like a 3.5mm jack than the normal optical sockets I am used to?

iMacs use a mini-jack for optical out.

You can buy a GriffinTeechnologies Xpress cable (optical).

That is an optical cable that comes with 2 (you only need 1) mini-jack to optical adapters.

My iMac CoreDuo is hooked up to my Loitech Z-5500 that way and works great.

Great speakers. I have them and have been in love with them ever since I bought them. You'll need a standard optical cable and something like this if you're using an iMac, Powerbook or new Mac mini though.

I love them. When using iDVD it sends the unprocessed audio stream to be decoded into digital 5.1. When using iTunes and such, I use the built in Pro Logic stuff in the speakers to upmix everything stereo into 5.1.

hi!

I have recently ordered a set of logitech z-5500 5.1 speakers,
but i am not sure as to how to hook them up to my computer so that each speaker works? i have a 24'' aluminum Imac and it only has a standard 3.5mm
headphone jack. i dont want to spend a lot of money:) since already paid 256$ for the speakers,
thanks for any help.
