Well my iPod has been heading for the crapper recently. Have had the drive head get stuck (clunk clunk) and files bing cruppted. But is limping along. So today i put it on my dock to sync (PC via FW). It just sits there with the do not disconnect sign. iTunes does not recognize it. So i decide to give it time. i was listing to a podcast then i see the iPod appear in iTunes and windows does the "let me scan this drive and ask you what to do with it" scan. Then, bam, computer restarts. Out of no where. Very odd.

If the iPod harddrive gets stuck while Windows scans to offer suggestions of how to use it, then Windows will restart...

...although your iPod shouldn't do that anyway - unless you put it in Disk Mode or you never used it before (the former I never heard of that happening though) it scans it - not every time and not regularly. Thats what iTunes and the iPod drivers do.

Sounds like a) corrupt iPod or b) reinstall iPod drivers
