I think he's asking what media he should use. Any DVD-R will work, but like anything else you get what you pay for. You can't get much better than Apple's DVD-Rs.

that is true, but some people may get confused by some of the different formats. DVD+r and DVD+RW do NOT work with the drive mechanism that apple and several external burners make use of.
 
I bought this 50 pack of dvd-r's for about $40 and couldn't be happier. I'm not sure who they're made by though. I think it might be Supermedia. Try going on didn't mac sites to see if you can buy them in bulk. That's your best bet. I use mine for copying movies and they work perfectly.

Different strokes for different folks, but I always warn against buying cheap DVD media. Especially if you are putting home movies and what not on them. DVDs, because of their greater data density, are more susceptible to show stopping errors than CD-Rs and budget DVDs are much more likely to degrade and become unplayable a year or two after burning than quality DVD media. For CD-Rs I don't care that much 'cause worst case scenario<sp?> I'll rerip the orignal CD. But if the DVD of my movie goes bad I'm pretty much SOL.
