Applescript and Renaming Torrent Files

I'm brand new to Applescript and am curious if I could do this using it. I'd like to create a script to automatically rename episode names getting the title from tv.com or some similiar site based on the episode number in the file name. Please don't tell me how to do it as I want to try on my own, but anyone know if Applescript could perform this task?

renaming files is entirely possible. the difficult part might be getting the episode numbers from tv.com.

Personally, I'd just keep a list of the names as a text file with the files.

That seems like a real pain in the *** to pull off.
