I've had this version of Photoshop for quite some time and I just upgraded to Mac OS X (about friggin time :D ). So far v5.5 runs on Classic and it seems choppy and a little bit slow. Will I be able to upgrade this version so it will run on Panther? If not, is there a cheap alternative for photo editing?

The current version of Photoshop is 9.

No, you cannot upgrade to this version from 5.5, you must purchase it new.

Most people can do what they need with Photoshop Elements 3.

There are several other packages too. You may even be able to do what you want with iPhoto (cropping, rotation and very limited enhancements).

Its also called:

Adobe Photoshop CS2

That's its name, not its version number. "Adobe Photoshop of the Creative Suite 2" - all the products still have their individual version numbers.

I run CS2 and have purchased since 5.5 - 6, 7, CS and CS2. I've never used this site so I cannot attest to their whether or not they're legit, but they offer some attractive download prices or Photoshop 6 and up.
Sorry...just noted it's for PC only at the moment.
