Maybe I'm not hip enough to know what's going on about FCP (quite likely). However, I was playing around with iPhoto and thinking about how nice it would be if FCP had a library section that did the exact same thing as iPhoto -- that way you could have one (or more) editing terminals hooked up to a bank of stock digital footage and a means of organizing and searching all your libraries for the clips you want.
