Low quality video extends battery life
Ironically, people dismiss low quality mp4/m4v files as being not up to snuff but I found out that with the lowest setting on isquint conversion, I can get up to 4-5 hours using the 30 gb video ipod. Very fascinating but it's all dependent on what quality you are willing to settle for. The same thing when I put videos on my cell phone as well.
late 2006 iMac 17" (Intel Core Duo 2) with 4 GB and 4 TB internal hard drive; Mac OS X 10.6, iPhone 3GS on T-Mobile + a few Android phones (HTC Amaze, etc.)

Of course --- fewer Mb to push means less hard drive and CPU power consumption.
Ex = former, no longer. Spurt = a leak, esp. when caused by water pressure. Expert = a has-been drip under pressure.
