HP PSC 950xi and os 10.2.4 problem

I am having some problems printing on my powerbook G4 running 10.2.4 and my HP PSC 950xi printer. I have downloaded the latest hp driver and even tried gimp print, but all I get when I print is gibberish. My computer recognizes my printer but will not print anything but two lines of random letters and symbols. It also doesn't stop printing pages till I turn of the printer??!! Any ideas, anyone using this combo succesfully. thanks For Help
