Dell 1100 Laserprinter WORKS with OS X!!!
All,
I just switched to Macs about 3 months ago, and my only real problem was that my Dell 1100 Laserprinter would not work at all with my Intel iMac - I searched MacRumors, Google, Yahoo! - you name it, I checked. Finally, though, I found a solution through an obscure blog comment (which I just happened to run by). If you have a Dell 1100, you can use the following link and download both programs and it will work: http://www.linuxprinting.org/macosx/samsung-gdi/ First, install both drivers, then go set up your printer as a Samsung ML-1210, and you should be good to go. It worked for me at least!

I have had a couple of issues with it stalling between pages and such - but it gets the job done. Eventually I plan on upgrading to a color laserjet! :-D

Update
I know this is digging up an old thread from the dead, I recently purchased a MBP and soon after a Time Capsule.
I was able to get my dell 1100 to print using the method above when the printer is hooked directly to the MBP via usb. After installing a Time Capsule and moving the printer to the USB port on there it now takes 25-30 minutes for a one page document to spool and print to the printer. anyone else have a similar problem? or suggestions for a solution? The printer works fine via Time Capsule with Windows XP and Bonjour fyi. |

standard samsung driver works
at http://boulter.com/blog/2005/06/14/s...vers-for-macs/ a comment by "Melanie" says
The Samsung ML-2010 printer driver for Mac OS works for the Dell 1100 printer. For ML-2010 driver go to website: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/do...ype=DR&vType=LThe driver says it's for 10.3 to 10.5, and it worked perfectly for me on an Intel iMac running 10.5.5. |
