Into my fifth day of Mac-ownership and still going pretty well 🙂

One question I have for users of VLC - I've read that it's supposed to be region free - ie: it doesn't care what region your drive is set to, it'll just play the disc. That doesn't seem to work for me... I can play region 4 DVDs no problems, but it seems to refuse to play all my R1 and R2 discs? nothing happens when I press the play button. Is there anything I have to do to "enable" the region-free playing on VLC I wonder... When I first got the PB 12", I chucked in a DVD and started playing it in DVD player and set it to region 4 - should I have avoided doing that in the first place? I would of course prefer not going down the path of firmware hacks if possible - I've flashed PC drives successfully in the past, but you never really know with that sort of thing.

Very strange.

I think to get region free playback you will need to update the firmware of the drive itself with a region free version.
