1 out of 10; not too bad then (checking emails)... And no, my bodily functions are never ignored when using, discussing or thinking of technology.

I may be into technology, but I'm not so involved with it that I don't know what's going on in the world around me. Geeze, checking your Blackberry during sex? That's horrible. And people playing games that long, heck, even I have to stand up, use the bathroom, and take a snack break. Heck I get frustrated at games and go do something else, and think of how to get through that part in the game. People are just too involved with tech. I still can't believe others killing themselves in the first place, I mean, they must have been depressed already , but still I can't believe that. -- (guess they thought the game had turned on them too like the rest of the world) ((Keyword = thought)

"You collect ridiculous accessories" ...they need to define ridiculous. I collect stuff, so I don't know if I can count this or not.

"You check your email on Sunday ... at 3am" ...I do, but I don't go to bed that early. And sometimes I just wake up, check email, PMs on forums and some other stuff and fall back to bed.

"You know your mates by their online 'handles' rather than their real names" ...guilty. Heck, I even make up nicknames for people who don't use internet handles. In fact, the people I "hang" around actually preffer being called by their internet handles (me including).

"Your favourite song goes "beep"" favourite song is from a gameboy game. So what?

"Instead of laughing, you say 'LOL'" That I do. But I am not alone.

"You own a BlackBerry" ...the frak!?

"You speak in a secret language" ...using their definition, I do.

so, 6-7/10

Thankfully I find myself in the same boat as you, hard to believe some of those facts, another case of fact being stranger than fiction

A survey on phone use in the US found 14 per cent of people admitted to answering their mobile during sex, Honore says. "Like it or not [Paris Hilton] is a cultural icon of the moment and she's doing it, too. People are bandying around this idea of a role model - that's the message they're getting, that it's OK to take a call in the middle of [sex]."
What the ...? I can't imagine how- why- what the? How'd you like to be on the other end of that conversation? Takes "What's up?" to new heights, I suppose. I'm going to have to stop asking that question now.

For the record, I can't stand a good majority of those idiosyncrasies and I follow technology.

I could be very tempted by a Burton iPod capable jacket (I ski but can't afford the jacket), getting a little iPod jumpsuit for our kids (when we get some), and I have contemplated getting a personalized number plate AAPL87 (shares in AAPL) or 18 LOOP (1 Infinite Loop as personalised plates are quite common in NZ) I have checked my emails at weird times of the night and morning when I was not married and chatting to a female friend in the US. I don't game online or fall asleep at my keyboard though.

none of those apply to me... my email checks itself, so I only look at it when there's a new message. i sometimes stay up late online, but if it wasn't the internet, it'd be a book. so that doesn't really count.

Zero out of ten. Even though I do check for mail at 3 a.m. (despite receiving so little of it), that is done because every day begins at that early hour for me. I believe I have received only 2 legitimate mail messages since late April.
iMac G3 450 MHz (09-00) ... likely to be replaced by my first laptop.

Two out of ten for me, so I suppose I'd better try harder.

Yes, I'm one of those people who go for the accessories, although I'm more at the end of 'useful' accessories rather than the junk some people have. I don't have an armchair for my mobile that flashes when I get a call, for example.

I'd also say that I qualify for the 'knowing people by usernames' one too – for example, apart from a small and select handful of people here I don't know the real names of my fellow MacRumormongers. I certainly wouldn't describe myself as being 'inept at socialising face-to-face' as the article says, but as soon as I pluck up the courage to speak to a real-life person I'll ask them how I fare.
How may I live without my name? I have given you my soul, leave me my name!
