Taking Apart A 1Ghz 12" Powerbook G4
My hard drive has failed, bought a Travelstar and three of the case screws are giving me problems (won't budge - halfway stripped).
Does anybody have disassembly charts for this model of Powerbook? I would appreciate it greatly. The one I got off of the Apple site appears to be for a different revision. I recall reading about release clamps, but I can't remember if that's only on the bigger models or not. Anything to avoid the $90 (?) that Apple will charge me to take apart in-store would be great. Thanks. |

Try one of the iFixit guides.

Make sure that you have a good set of screwdrivers, or by the time you're done with the screws you'll wish that you paid the $90 to have someone install it for you.
1 Screw stripped is bad enough, your close to having 3, be careful!
