James Bond stage destroyed

BBC are reporting that the 007 sound stage has been destroyed, at least partially, in a major fire at Pinewood Studios on Sunday morning.

No word on if they were filming at the time or what caused the fire... did one of Q's whizzy gadgets go off at just the wrong time... or is one of Bond's enemies involved...

Since it's still in production, I wonder what kind of delay this will have for Casino Royale being released

I saw an article earlier that said they were done...the set was in the process of being taken down.

Edit: Here's the article I saw. Your BBC article also mentions that filming had been completed, though it was probably updated with the info after you saw it.

Q was simply being careless again- he should know better than to leave his flame-thrower (disguised as a golf club) just laying around.

That has got to be one of the best 007 quotes.

Along with after P_ssy Galore introduces herself and he says I must have died and gone to heaven.

Let's just hope...

that the film stock was destroyed also...

I mean, a blonde James Blonde?

And a remake of the spoof Bond?

Once human cloning has begun we can bring back a youthful Sean Connory and Bond will be reborn...

Haa Haa Haa (in evil laught style)

Apparently witnesses at the fire said the explosion could be heard for a considerable distance, it was said to have sounded like a thunderball

So they perfect cloning and you'll want a new Sean Connery? Knock yourself out, meanwhile I'm going to be growing myself a few Kylies. I may never need another cinema/TV/DVD for entertainment again

dmw007, I blame you for this. I bet your fancy new MBP with spring-loaded ejection seat overheated!

They aren't remaking the "spoof." They're making a new movie based on Ian Fleming's original "Casino Royale" novel.

Sad to hear that the soundstage was destroyed.

Woohoo! I'm so glad there are problems on the set!

In the movie business, when setbacks like this happen, it's a sign of good luck that the film will do really well at the box office.

Any of you think Casino Royale will use these types of sexual innuendo one-liners? Personally, I can't see that they will, or else the film would parody and mock itself.

Couldn't you just see Q actually explaining that in the movie?

"Now pay attention, 007. This is a Dell laptop. We haven't modified it at all, because all Dell laptops come ready to explode. You simply leave this in the center of Blofeld's headquarters. Turning it on activates the self-destruct mechanism. I'd advise you to run like hell -- this Dell will destroy anyone and anything within a 500-yard radius. Any questions?"

I would expect a November release to be in post-production by now except for the odd pick-up.

I'm not a huge Bond fan but if anything, the news of Daniel Craig taking over the reins and the reported news that the film is to go 'back to basics' makes me more, not less, likely to go and see the film.

Enough of the jokeyness, please... let's see a taut thriller that is aimed at adults, as opposed to invisible cars and tsunami-surfing.

I didn't care much for the original Casino Royale.

Not sure the flavor of this one. With a new James Bond it will be interesting to see how they develop the character.

Yes, it will be interesting to see how the new Bond acts/is portrayed, I for one think that they should bring someone else back in to fill the role....
