I just got a TiBook 550 and am trying to watch a DVD on my TV using S-Video.
The Desktop shows up on the TV but when i start the DVD i get audio (through the book) but no video on the TV. I tried a MPEG movie that i had on my hard drive , and it worked fine. Any ideas on why the dvd wont show up? And what i need to do to fix it? Thanks OtisB.

Not supported!
DVD on an external monitor is not supported under OS X.
The only work around to this is to trick OS X by using the external monitor as the only monitor. This means that you must reboot your machine with an external monitor connected and then shut the case after the bong. Once the computer starts up, you can then open the case and use the external monitor (ie your TV) as the only monitor. DVDs should play just fine. It sucks, but its the only way. I hear 10.1.3 will fix this. Matthew |
