Iam trying to make or use rather a jpeg for a avatar. How can i change the pixels of this picture? i have tried exporting it and changing bytes in preview but it doesnt seem to allow this. Is there a easy way to change size and pixels of a jpeg or tiff without photoshop?

what image processing software do you have?

All you need to do is make it 50x50 pixels - a still image won't be above the max size of 20k.

Just what came with Osx and my mac. I have a demo of photoshop elements but have yet to use it. Is there not easy way to manipulate a picture size in OsX somewhere?

Graphic Converter is you're best option.

You can use it for basic editing, it scales, crops etc... and lets you import and export to loads of different file formats. The only thing you want to make sure of when saving a file is that you check the "save web ready" button in the save dialogue box.

What a total pain, is there a place to pick out a premade avatar? i thought this would be a very easy thing to do? Any suggestions?
