So I have hooked my macbook upto my iMac to transfer files whenever I'm at my desk, I even have the external FW drive on the iMac mounted on the macbook.

but whenever I try to copy a file from the macbook to the iMac I am told

"The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items"

I can copy files OFF the external, but not onto it.
on the "Get Info" for the drive, it tells me the iMac is the owner and the group is also iMac, and it says "others : Read and Write"

I read up on it but everywhere is telling me to enter 777's and things into terminal, but I have never used terminal before so am wary.

thanks again
