Regardless of how mainstream-oriented they claim iTMS to be, I'm becoming more and more pleased with their selection of independents and obscurities.

Apple has hired some very knowledgeable people to work for iTMS who have extensive connections to independent bands and labels across a huge variety of genres. So long as they are given the leeway to do what they think is best, you'll see some surprisingly extensive coverage of some pretty obscure stuff at iTMS.
