My roommate, sister and a good friend all have 12" powerbooks. I've called my sister and friend to let them know. I was home over lunch when this news broke and so I pulled the battery out of my roommates powerbook and it falls withing the SN range being recalled. This, for him, is actually a GOOD thing. His Powerbook battery is at 52% after only one year of ownership and 177 load cycles. Now it looks like he'll be getting a free battery from Apple. He never had a problem with it but free is free.

Do not confuse the two!!!

So why is the other, older recall now missing from the page! It just makes the Apple site look stupid.

there goes some of sony's good brand quality image.

one the good side. I once had to swap out a battery from apple before.

it was quick and easy. honestly i am a power user, travel tons.

could use a new fresh pair of batteries anyway. i am checking to see if any of my 3 are swapable.

hey not a bad thing. this is preventative. my batteries have been fine, aside from losing life after tons of charges.

My 12" PB falls withing the 3K range (3K514) and wont validate.

The whole number is 3K5148QGR....

I wonder if the 8 makes a difference?

Heh, after checking all of my batteries are fine. darn! (or good)

was sort of hoping to get a free update on the battery. but to be honest. would be a waste of time, as i will probably buy one of the new macbook pro's soon.

whenever the new models are released.

Getting a new one too...shame that the Apple site is pretty much crashing under the load...

Actually now I took it out I notice a minor bump in the battery. I wonder if it's just a small little screw or a slightly inflated (about to explode) battery.

My thoughts exactly. Makes me wonder why the 14" iBook isn't affected.
