By default screen shots are saved as PDF. Is there anyway to change it to jpg or other extensions?

Open it up in Preview, then click File and go down to export.

Bunches of options there.

And then it all depends on the quality.

If you want to post here I would use .jpg

IMO better than the rest.

I know how to change it once I take the shot. I wanted to know if you could change the shot before taking it.

I remember someone here saying there was a little freeware app that did what you're asking, don't know the name though.

I'd try www.versiontracker.com , that seems to be the answer for everything.

as vniow said, it is the best and all the equipment and software you need is in the default install. Besides, unless you need to see the mouse, or do a movie, or a timed shot (i.e. for showing menus) then snapx pro iss a bit much. besides it aint free - preview is ...
