Now I come to think about it, I also remember the delay to get it, like more than 2 months...

Oh well, it's been well used since, and made worth the price and the delay

I waited for Rev B. Kinda happy I did. Sorry, not going to hug it.

(Don't want to smudge it.)

I'm contemplating the replacement of my iMac G5 soon (snirf ), by either a new Intel iMac or Mac Pro, but I was kinda wondering why during an evening last week...

In a rush to do many-things-at-the-same-time (which is usually the mother of all *****-ups/system crashes), I stopped and stood back when realizing this brave little iMac (with 2GB of ram, though) was easily performing, at the same time:
- copying 40 Gb of photos from one hard drive to another hard drive (Finder),
- burning a DVD with 4 Gb of photos (Toast, external DVD burner),
- browsing through 7000 photos (iPhoto),
- printing high-res photos (iPhoto/Printer),
- managing a website (Dreamweaver),
- playing songs from library (iTunes),
- importing CD to library (iTunes, internal CD),
- updating my iPod (iTunes),
- and the usual rest I can't even remember.
NB: all hard-drives and external DVD-burner are connected to an external FW-hub.
NB2: I've been an Apple-user since the Apple IIe, and going through systems 7, 8 and 9, which means that all this was pretty impossible for a looooong time.

I mean, this little animal is still very powerful, and the DVD-burning didn't even fail !

Why change my machine then ? Er, I guess the power of advertising of Apple / being a geek / needing a new toy. Just don't tell my wife

I don't have a G5 iMac, but I'll hug my Intel iMac anyway.

Amen to that, brother! My parents just told me they won't buy me a MacBook for the Erasmus interchange after all, and will bring me my iMac G5 later on when I'm properly settled instead.

However, on second thought, do I give a damn? I just realised, this "little" (it's a 20''er) beast still isn't souped up memory-wise, so it still has room to grow faster.

Oh, and btw, a little bird told me that on a Rev.A iMac G5, the Leopard Developer "Sneak Peek", even running from a measly 14 GB partition on a external 7200 RPM FW400 HD, is, well, snappy as hell (snappy as in as snappy as Tiger running on Intel, interface-wise )
