New Linksys router won't connect to iMac?

I just bought a new Linkysys WRT54GS V.6, and it won't connect to my iMac Core Duo at all. I also want it to be directly connected because of my x-box that needs to get on live. If anyone knows what I can do, it would be much appreciated.😱 🙁

Connecting wired or wirelessly?

If wirelessly, is your iMac seeing the router with name "linksys"?

I'm trying to connect wired to my iMac. But when I do do it wirelessly, it comes up as linksys_ow_something...

When wired, what is the network status of Built-in Ethernet in the Network pane of System Preferences?

its linksys go return it and get a netgear and i have my xbox connecto my pb which connect through airport for live
