Hey folks,

I just got some vcd's in the mail that were burned from a pc. Problem is, my mac doesn't know how to open the file in order to play it.

I'm using os 10.2, and I have Quicktime Pro.
I read that I have to convert the .dat file and import it to the player, but I don't have the slightest idea how to do that.

Please help.

Thanks.

It got so far as allowing me to select which file for it to open...then did nothing.

So I paid for macvcd. and it works with mediocre results. I wish mac supported vcd format.

I'm a recent switcher and got quite pissed when I tried to play VCD with my iBook. The some good samaritans here point me to VLC vcd player.

I think you should open disc instead of open file.
Press function key (the button with the Apple logo on it) together with the letter D. Select VCD.

Should be able to open it up.

I find that it hangs or quits unexpectedly sometimes. For better results, copy the disc onto the HDD, then play it from there.

Hope this helps.
