ok, so i have been playing around with the script editor and i came up with a little(veeeery little 3 lines of text) that will make your mac greet you on login.
just open a new script and type:

tell application "Finder"
display dialog "Welcome My Master!"
end tell

or just type something else after the "display dialog"
then do a "save as" and choose "application" in the format
after that just open it (the application) right-click the icon at the dock and select "open at login" (or something like that) and you are done!

I prefer something more like "Where you been, slave?".

I think this one is better:

tell application "Terminal"
say "Welcome my master!"
end tell

EDIT: Better yet, i'll probably use this one:

tell application "Terminal"
say "Whuddup beotch? Whut up ind da hiz houze?"
end tell

While I know this is probably just meant to be a simple thing, perhaps you could add in a random event so it could say a variety of things?

How about having it say "WELCOME BACK, OH MASTERFUL COPYRIGHT AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY VIOLATOR! Would you like me to load up thepiratebay.org for you or will you just click on it in your bookmarks bar?"

Making your computer talk on login strikes me as so very AmigaOS 2.04.

Couldnt you do a script that uses Universal Access to speak some preset messages at login?

(Retorical)
