If you have sound in jack on your computer just go down to RadioShack and pick up a mini-to-mini cable. Plug one end into the headphone jack, and one end into the sound in jack. Set up you computer to record audio from the sound in jack in the sound preference pane. Then using your favorite software to record audio, record what you want from the DVD and convert it to the desired format.

I was using some DVD encoding programs last week to help my friend put together a montage for his film class. I believe one of them allowed you to take audo only. Unfortunetly, I can't say what the program is now because I just got back into town from a trip and I'm actually at my parent's house, but tomorrow I can post back and let you know. Good luck. :)
