In Word for Windows, I can go to the Insert Menu, click Object, and then click on Microsoft Equation 3.0 to insert special symbols/layouts for chemical equations for chemistry class. For example, I typed this:

on Windows, but I can't find out how to do this on Word for Mac.

BTW, I'm running Office 2000 on Windows and v.X on my Mac.

Am I missing something? All that I did was use the help menu.

That's what I need, but it doesn't show up on mine.

Equation Editor isn't part of the default install, and it looks like you don't have it. You'll need to pop your install disc back in and do a custom install of it. If I recall correctly how v.X is set up, it would be in the Value Pack Installer.

I keep all of my important system disks in my iMac's box. My application software is just in a clear plastic bag. My software boxes just sit next to my computer with book ends. :D

It would probably be beneficial for you if you took a look at LaTeX, or at least the LaTeX Equation Editor. This way you can get PDFs for each equation while taking your first steps into the wonderful world of LaTeX typesetting.

If you need equations on a regular basis, there's just no other way to typeset. Just take a day to learn the syntax and you'll never look back!:D
