This is nice until you realize that buying a 512MB PC X1900XT or XTX costs nearly as much (or more) than just getting the card from Apple in the first place... I'm hoping that Apple's resurgent marketshare in the US combined with their "same hardware as PCs" status (x86, EFI, and PCIe) will help convince graphics card manufacturers to start making drivers for OS X themselves. The only reason we lack graphics upgrade options is because the chipset makers (ATI and Nvidia) refuse to make their own drivers for OS X, they put it all on Apple, so Apple of course only supports what they put in (or the three cards they offer for their tower, whatever those may be).
