I run a reduced privilege user on a day to day basis and occasionally I want to run a higher privilege command. As far as I know, sudo is the way to do that, but when I sudo in the terminal it says "[username] is not in the sudoers file. This incident will be reported." How do I add my daily user account to the list of sudoers?

Nobody responded here, does anyone know a forum where they might know the answer? I found the sudoers file, but I have no idea how I should edit it to add another user to the list.
