FS: Black MacBook, 1GB, 80 Gig HD - $1k

Hi all,

I was waiting to see what the Merom MacBook bumps would be, as I'm currently taxing my original Yonah Book purchased new from the Apple Store in Cambridge, MA this past June. I'm finding that I need some more speed for work, so I'm planning on upgrading to the Merom MacBook Pro.

Selling the current machine off for $1k, considering the usage and release of the Merom Books. Screen is immaculate with no dead pixels. No stratches on the plastic casing, just some of the discoloration, but nothing terribly serious. I can provide pictures if there's interest.

I'll ship in the original packaging (with all included cables, manuals, etc), but I prefer local pickups in the Boston area.

Thanks.

I'm very interested and I live in Boston.

Do you have a full speclist? Pics? Maybe we can meet locally?

Yeah, I might be interested too. Can we see some pics of the discolorization?

Also, would you be williing to drive like an hour or so? I live in Burlington, VT. I could drive 3 hours down to the Boston area if you could meet me somewhere.

I'll be able to take some pics after work this evening, and I'll post immediately.

I'm currently car-less, so I unfortunately wouldn't be able to meet anyone halfway, unless any of the T termini count. I'd much prefer meeting somewhere in Boston.

The MacBook was bought stock, except for the RAM (they installed the 2x512 of Apple RAM at the point of purchase).

As far as the full spec list, it's all stock:

Ma****a Superdrive
Fujitsu Serial ATA (80gig)
AP/BT
iSight
2.0 GHz Core Duo
2x512 Apple RAM
FrontRow, and remote
iLife 06
10.4.8

No problems with the mooing or the random shutdowns, but there is some occasional whining from the Magsafe adapter. Nothing terribly annoying.

Let me know if there's anythingn else you want to know.

Jesus, that thing looks like it's been to Iraq, hit by a few roadside bombs and back! I'd try to get that cleaned up if you want a good price for it

Okay, in a quick ten-second wipedown with a damp paper towel, it looks much better. I'm sure there are better cleaning methods out there that will make things even nicer. And the smudges look worse then they really are with the flash.

Nothing "happened" to it, per se. It's just smudging from me touching it. It's not like I have especially greasy hands or anything. Like I said, the flash makes it look really bad, but it's not.

My gosh, looks like the guy actually *used* this Macbook!

Makes you sort of wonder what people are(not) doing with their computers in between Apple releasing updated models, that they do not have any wear marks/smudge marks that show up from normal use.

$1000 seems like a fair price to me, with the updated models out and all.

I'll take some more pictures sans flash tonight, but negatv1 is right: I am not shy when it comes to using my MacBook. I'm typing/laying out with it 8-9 hours every day, and it comes with me to and from work, on planes, trains, etc. It's always in a waterfield designs sleevecase (hence, no scratches or dents) but I have indeed touched by computer several times. I simply don't have the time to hypoallergenically sanitize my body and wrap myself in latex every time I need to use the computer.

Don't mean to sound indignant or anything, I'm just not sure how I could have avoided the smudges. I still think $1000 is more than a fair price.

as much as i want the price to be lowered so i can afford this, i think Sox has a very valid statement. He did use normally, and theres nothing seriously wrong with it. plus, the black finish will wear like that, leaving a smooth surface. good luck on your sale!

I think $1k is a STEAL for this. It's used...so what. Double the memory of a refurb, and no tax. If I didn't need a GPU, I'd pick this up. Besides, the smudges and used effect adds character...rustic almost like Indiana Jones style!

For what it's worth, my black MacBook gets similar smudges in normal use, and iKlear does a really good job of restoring the finish on the case and the keyboard/trackpad.

my local retail store is selling these for black friday for 1k. NEW. With the case being what it is, I'm not sure. Try iKlear, I use it on my blackbook every day and it looks brand new.
