Apple After Thanksgiving Sale 2006

http://www.macrumors.com/images/macrumorsthreadlogo.gif

On November 24th 2006, Apple will be holding their annual Day After Thanksgiving sale (U.S. only) which is a one day event. What's notable about this event is that Apple rarely discounts their products, normally strictly following their manufactuer suggested retail prices. That being said, once sales tax and/or shipping costs and factored in, individual customers may still do better when purchasing from other online retailers.

Like last year, Apple will only be offering savings on specific products. A preliminary list available at this time reveals the following sales:

$11 off of iPods and iPod nanos
$20 off of Adobe Elements
$69 for .Mac
Unspecified discounts on the MacBook and Shure headphones

Final prices and offers will be posted when made available. The sale will be offered at their retail stores as well as the online Apple Store.

As stated above, the sale is more for street traffic. The savings aren't that substantial. buying from amazon or another place that doesn't charge sales tax probably offsets any additional savings. But there is the added benefit that you get the product right away.

I haven't seen a lower price on the iSight I bought last year on BF $135 shipped incl tax. (With one possible exception, and that was a clearance/misprint at microcenter that they still honored in a couple cases.) I only paid slightly less for a used one on eBay a month before - and it's an earlier revision. Sometimes it's not that bad of a deal.

Black Friday sale in Canada?

According to Apple's Canadian website, the Black Friday sale will be there too, not only in the U.S.

Hmm. Anyone think that there's a chance of a price drop on the Airport Express?

It's interesting that the email ad I received from Apple sort of implies savings across the board (since they show silhouetted images of virtually everything in their product line).

"one day shopping event", "Joy to the wallet", and images of ipods, macs, mice, etc.... the works, basically.

I'll be well disappointed if there are no discounts to the Mac Pro, since it too is among that group of images...

That said, I bought my G5 at a similar event early last year, and used a scratch-off ticket I got at the door giving me 10% off my purchases that day... perhaps this year will offer something like that?

And, I just got lucky, I guess.......

peace,

Does anyone know if you have to go to a store to get the discounts? Can you order from the online Apple store? There's no way I'll be able to get to an Apple Store tomorrow.

It's not a rumour and it only applies to Apple in the U.S... and maybe Canada...

Maybe I'm just pissed off I'm in the UK. No thanksgiving!!

This is a "yes"...

I subscribed to .mac while living in Japan, then moved back to the U.S.... there was no difference in the service, I just changed my address in the main account profile. As long as you pay, I think they don't care where you live... :P

We'll see if Macbook/Pro discounts are enough to sway me towards one

In any event, it gives me an excuse to click on Apple.com tomorrow.

I have it... just posted it above... there will be "red" signs everywhere in the retail stores tomorrow and specialists will be wearing red shirts...

btw, MBP's are not on sale since it's not on the list... just MB's (from $1099 down to $998, etc.... up to $1499 which goes down to $1398)

iMac's are on sale too.... see the posting above... I'm wondering about the Mini since it's not on that "Joy to the Wallet" sale list.
