External Hard Drive + PS3

Has anyone done it? I had a 250gb Seagate external attached to my mac formatted to Mac. I went to Disk Utility and formatted it to DOS (FAT32) and then tried hooking it up via USB to the PS3. It doesn't recognize. People have been succesful with this, and I don't know why Its not working.

Sounds cool, does Sony advertise this as a capability?

Yea...i don't get why when i formatted my iPod to FAT32, it works on the PS3...but the FAT32 HD doesn't. I formatted to MS-DOS in disk utility...anyone?

I don't have a PS3 but in my Tech dealings over the years, maybe you can:

1. Try NTFS instead. The iPod is only at most 80Gig? But a larger drive the PS3 might need it to be NTFS.

2. Try formatting the drive on the PS3 directly.
