go to file>export then click the word tab at the top, click next, then call the file what you want and select where you want it saved then click on export and you will have a .doc file! hope that makes sense!

Yes, opening an excel file with Numbers works famously. I keep everything in numbers, and export as excel files for my work PC. Going back and forth causes few problems (if any).
I saved to an Excel file a Numbers spreadsheet with multiple tables on a sheet. Excel can't handle it and creates a separate sheet for each table. This is the one killer feature of Numbers that I wish Excel could do correctly.
It is the number #1 innovation in spreadsheets since sheets and in-cell entry back in the 90's.
