How do you save as .doc in pages?

go to file>export then click the word tab at the top, click next, then call the file what you want and select where you want it saved then click on export and you will have a .doc file! hope that makes sense!

I actually went trudging through the user guide and found it... Fun!
 
Beware, although you can "export to Word format" it can be really ugly if you have a lot of those fancy Pages styles.

Yes, opening an excel file with Numbers works famously. I keep everything in numbers, and export as excel files for my work PC. Going back and forth causes few problems (if any).
 
Excel Limitation

I saved to an Excel file a Numbers spreadsheet with multiple tables on a sheet. Excel can't handle it and creates a separate sheet for each table. This is the one killer feature of Numbers that I wish Excel could do correctly.

It is the number #1 innovation in spreadsheets since sheets and in-cell entry back in the 90's.
