Hey, does anyone know where you can download ipod software 2 since apple wont let you? I would like to try and put it on my iPod. If there isn't a place, does someone want to post it on here?🙂
 
I doubt the new software will even work on an old iPod. I suspect Apple wasn't just being greedy by not letting us have it; the software probably needs the new iPods' better processor.
 
I tried putting 2.0 on my 5GB iPod. It wouldn't turn on, had to downgrade. But my 30GB one is wonderful.
 
Considering the fact that people have stumbled upon hidden things like the Recording feature, I'm pretty sure that 2.0 isn't backwards compatible.

That said, I think Apple will release a 1.3.x or 1.4 version for older iPods featuring some of the new features (like on-the-go playlists, and maybe a game). They're just waiting for the initial buying frenzy to subside.
