Which one is the best 'bang for your buck'?

For Christmas I managed to receive a 500 GB MyBook Essential edition but I had the option to return it and go for a premium edition, at my own cost. My question is that should I go from a 500 GB Essential MyBook to a 320 GB Mybook, or stay? The only differences are the firewire ports and the second light on the front.

Thoughts? 🙂

Firewire 800 would be my choice every time.

Dave 🙂

The Premium Edition only has firewire 800, but if you had to choose between a 320 GB Premium Edition or a 500 GB Essential Edition, which one would you choose?

Right now I'm leaning towars the 500 GB Essential because of size and that the only difference between the two is firewire 400.

Dumb question: Does the iMac G5 have firewire 800 ports?

Thanks 🙂

I'm going to go with the 500 GB essential. I could use the extra 180 GB and with Leopard coming up I have no use for the backup software. The only thing holding me back is the firewire, though it is only 400.

Thanks for the help. 🙂

Disregard that last post, I've changed my mind since then.

I went with the 320 GB Premium Edition drive.

Got any tips? I'm brand new to this whole 'external' thing. 😱

i have a mybook 160gig.
the prices keep going down on these things and it sucks.
i hate when that happens. just thought i'd share.

also, make sure everything is well organized. i dont know about you, but somehow i let mine get all unorganized, and it's just not fun to look through tons and tons of stuff. but thats common sense.

Normally I organize my stuff, so that shouldn't be a problem. If it is, there is always spotlight. 🙂

Quick question, can I connect it with both the firewire and the USB cables at the same time?
