Shuffle not showing up on itunes 7?

when i plug my shuffle in now it opens itunes but it doesnt show up on the left side so i cant edit any of the songs on it, it shows up on the desktop though. any ideas on how i can fix it? its the 1st gen if thatt matters.
 
no, it works fine as a music player so its not like broken, and it wouldnt show up on my sisters mac either.
