Thanks for the help on this, because I too have the need to capture some videos from YouTube. Someone out there has taken the time to post old commercials from the sixties and the ones involving what are now classic cars are of great interest to my fellow car club members.

If you are in xp, save the youtube file to your computer with videodl.org or a similar service, open the file in notepad, and you should find a link to the originally posted avi or mpg or whatever the poster uploaded it as. Enter that in firefox or IE, and download.
I say you Should find a link in the notepad file, because I do this with google vids, and I am assuming it works the same way with youtube. Just a thought.

i personally used the scripts add-on in firefox and will put link on youtube page for direct download purpose.😀
I'm surprised noone has suggested Get Tube. It can grab the link directly from the browser window, download it, and convert it to .mp4-video in one go.
