I want t set up a surfing machine in my Kitchen (for FoodTV.com and such). As I don't have a large amount of space, a laptop would work great. I need to keep it cheap, as as it only for minor surfing, I don't need lots of umphf.

Any thoughts?

I have the iBook g3.. cost me about 400 to get: 800mhz/airport/30gig/640ram/combo.. and it's a really useful computer. You could get an iBook with some similar but simpler specs for around 250 or 300 on ebay that would browse the web just fine.

Get an iBook G3 2nd gen If you only have a little space. It's Teh Snappy™. Otherwise get the clamshell. It's retro!

You can get a Lombard PowerBook for under $100. Mine back in the day ran OS X like a champ, and I could surf the net just fine.

The 900mhz 14" iBook G3. You might not think you need 900mhz but you'll quickly grow frustrated by a slower iBook or any PowerBook G3 (flash, movies, music) etc...
