Hi people,

I'm running OS X 10.4.8 on an intel-based Mac. I've been playing around with the .bashrc configuration files for xterm , when I noticed the following values (the same goes for Terminal.app):

Code:
[~]>set
.
.
.
HOSTTYPE=powerpc
MACHTYPE=powerpc-apple-darwin8.0
which are incorrect, since this is an intel machine. Do these variables have any influence on the system's behaviour (e.g. when compiling packages using make)? Should I change them myself, and if so -- where are the configuration files, and what are the correct values?
