Well, have you tried reformatting it in iTunes? What sort of computer do you have? You might be able to reformat it with Disk Utility or the equivalent on Windows. 
Goto iTunes then reformat.
Should work unless you are...
a) technically incompetent
or....
b) very unlucky
If b), resell on ebay but sell as damaged or for spares. You will at least get some of your money back.
If a), Lock yourself in a closet somewhere after removing all electrical devices and wait until "digital age" ends before emerging.
