Tiger Widget Calculator un usable on Powerbook?

I've got a PB12" 1.5ghz with 1.25gbs of ram.

And I cannot seem to easily use my calculator widget off dashboard.

It shuts down and beachballs. Why the CPU suck on the widgets? I don't get it. What am I doing wrong? Running 10.4.2 because I don't want the constant fan on as in 10.4.8

perhaps because you are using a widget coded for 10.4.8 on 10.4.2?
